As engineers have sought to make front wheel drive transaxles more efficient, they have used new concepts to help them reach the goals that have been set for more efficient drivelines and more forward gears. During this training, participants will first take a detailed look at the ZF 9HP to gain an understanding for how it is designed, and then take a deep dive into diagnostics. Participants will leave this training able to more effectively diagnose and repair ZF 9HP transaxles. 

After completing this training, the participant will be able to: 

• List internal components of the 9HP transmission  

• Identify the torque flow of all gears  

• Describe differences between pressure regulators and solenoids  

• Identify the different characteristics of pressure regulators  

• Differentiate between valve body types  

• Explain the shifting strategy of the ZF 9HP  

• Analyze transmission adaptation values and quick learn procedure  

• Explain an oil change service procedure for different manufacturers  

• Explain how to properly check the oil in the transmission  

• Describe the common failures of the ZF 9HP  

• Review the disassembly and assembly process of the transmission  

• Identify special tools needed for disassembly and assembly of the unit

ADAS Operation and Calibration 

As automotive manufacturers move towards making vehicles more and more autonomous, the amount of technology needed to accomplish these autonomous functions have been rapidly increasing.
