Webinar (9:00AM PST, 12:00PM EST)
(1 Hour)
Steering and Suspension – Course Description
Maybe you have asked yourself, why does this car have so many control arms on it? Or, why does this European vehicle ride and handle so much differently than US domestic vehicles? As with many automotive systems, the steering and suspension systems on vehicles are constantly evolving. European automakers have been at the forefront of automotive technology, including the evolution of steering and suspension. For technicians, having a proper understanding of how these systems have changed and how they operate is critical in being able to properly diagnose modern vehicles.
This steering and suspension course, hosted by MEYLE, will be great for both beginner and intermediate technicians!
This course will cover technologies in both steering and suspension to give technicians a better understanding of common failures, diagnostics, tips and tricks, and best practices for repair.
- The participant can expect to learn:
- Advantages of Four Link Suspension systems
- Effects of “bump steer” on alignment
- Best practices for checking suspension systems
- Proper installation techniques
- Modern suspension technologies that improve ride quality and safety
- How Electric Power Steering works, and how it is similar to hydraulic steering systems
- Tips on when to replace electric rack and pinions and how they interact with other automotive systems
European Transmissions Webinar (12:00PM PST, 3:00PM EST)
with Wes Dickens
Webinar: (12:00PM PST, 3:00PM EST)
(1 Hour)
European Transmissions
Modern day transmissions in European vehicles can be very intimidating, but they don’t have to be. By gaining a basic understanding of how they work, common failures, and how to properly service them, the intimidation factor can be eased. This will open up a new opportunity for your shop to gain revenue in an area that may have been previously missed.
This training course will offer a look into 3 of the most common transmissions currently in use today from Audi/VW, BMW, and Mercedes Benz. Additionally, there will be a hands on training on the service procedure of the Mercedes 9g Tronic.
After this course, a technician will be able to:
- Identify a transmission in need of an oil change
- Interpret signs of a transmission that will be harmed from an oil change
- Explain the properties and importance of the correct oils and filtering media
- Review the basics of transmission operation
- Describe the steps to changing the transmission oil in a DSG (Audi/VW) and a ZF 8HP (BMW)
- Complete a transmission service on a Mercedes 9g Tronic
ADAS Operation and Calibration Webinar (9:00AM PST, 12:00PM EST)
with Wes Dickens
Webinar: (9:00AM PST, 12:00PM EST)

ADAS Operation and Calibration
As automotive manufacturers move towards making vehicles more and more autonomous, the amount of technology needed to accomplish these autonomous functions have been rapidly increasing. In this training we will cover the components used in Advance Driver Assist Systems (ADAS), how they function, and how to do several common calibrations on European vehicles.
- During this training, the participant can expect to learn:
- The levels of autonomous driving and what they are capable of doing
- Advantages of ADAS on a vehicle
- Sensors used to monitor the vehicle’s environment, and how they operate
- Effects of worn components on ADAS systems
- Common tools and equipment needed for ADAS calibration
- Types of front camera calibrations and their environmental prerequisites
- Volkswagen front radar calibration
- Audi/Volkswagen backup camera calibration
- Audi/Volkswagen 360 camera calibration
- BMW night vision calibration
