ZF Plug-in hybrid Transmission Technology for BMW and Audi ( Webinar 12:00PM PST, 3:00PM EST)
with Brian Bay
The ZF 8HP has proven itself, for more than a decade, that it is among the best transmissions ever produced. The first models of the 8HP, and subsequent models, have all pushed the limits of transmission efficiency. As ZF continues to improve the 8HP, adding a Plug-In Hybrid version of the transmission was the next logical step. Become familiar with the latest technology as we cover hybrid transmission basics, torque flow, & basic high voltage concepts.
After completing this training, the participant will be able to:
- Describe the different levels of hybrid technology
- Identify the types of ZF hybrid transmissions
- Define the classification of a high voltage system
- Describe procedure to disconnect high voltage systems on BMW and Audi
9HP Transmission Overview (Webinar 9:00AM PST, 12:00PM EST)
with Brian Bay
“As engineers have sought to make front wheel drive transaxles more efficient, they have used new concepts to help them reach the goals that have been set for more efficient drivelines and more forward gears. During this training, participants will first take a detailed look at the ZF 9HP to gain an understanding for how it is designed, and then take a deep dive into diagnostics. Participants will leave this training able to more effectively diagnose and repair ZF 9HP transaxles.”
After completing this training, the participant will be able to:
• List internal components of the 9HP transmission
• Identify the different characteristics of pressure regulators
• Explain the shifting strategy of the ZF 9HP
• Explain an oil change service procedure for different manufacturers
• Explain how to properly check the oil in the transmission
• Describe the common failures of the ZF 9HP
• Review the disassembly and assembly process of the transmission
• Identify special tools needed for disassembly and assembly of the unit
EPB Systems & Diagnostics (Webinar 12:00PM PST , 3:00PM EST)
with Brian Bay
Now days it seems all the focus is all about fuel economy, future technology, the new and improved ways to drive our vehicle forward, and the environmental impacts. These are all great topics and very important to the automotive industry today. Lets not forget though, these are not the only advancements car manufacturers are working on. In this class we look at the electronic parking brake systems.
After completing this training, the participant will be able to:
- Explain electrical park brake systems.
- Describe proper mechanical release of electrical brake system.
- Describe collaboration between brakes and diver assist function.
- Explain assistance-based emergency braking.
